2008 Jamis Nova Pro

Friday I purchased a 54cm 2008 Jamis Nova Pro from The Bike Shop in Houghton. I’ve been shopping for an all-purpose bicycle since March, and believe the Nova Pro best suits my wants and needs. I plan to ride to work, and attempt at least one cyclo-cross race in the fall.
The Nova Pro has the following attractive selling points:
- Carbon Fork
- Carbon fiber seat stays
- Fender capable
- Comfortable geometry
- Weight: 21 lbs
- Full overview and specifications
The Bike Shop threw in caged pedals, a water bottle, bottle holder, a free tune-up after 30 days, free “adjustments” for the lifespan of the bike, and 15% off MSRP.
Update: I wrote a brief 2008 Jamis Nova Pro Review.

How’s it riding? I’ve been looking at one myself and would appreciate a little review. Thanks.

Brad,
The bike has been great so far. I wrote a brief 2008 Jamis Nova Pro Review.

How’d you get the shop to give you 15% off MSRP and toss the pedals in for free? I can’t get a shop around the DC area to go any lower than MSRP, and they won’t toss a single thing in =( Any suggestions? I really would like to purchase this bike, but if it comes down to it, I’ll buy the Scattante X-560 for $999 and get the 10% back in store credit at the other bike shop in the area.

Jake,

All I had to do was ask. Our local bike shops have been great when it comes to pricing and freebies. In a small town, they have be competitive.
If you can hold off another month or two (until the 09’s start showing up), maybe they’ll lower their price a little. I hope you choose the bicycle that best suits you, I’ve been very happy with the Jamis Nova Pro.
Perhaps you can also check some suburban bike shops?
Good luck.
